The National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) has chosen five companies to provide it with new and emerging electro-optical imaging capabilities.

This move by the NRO highlights the growing importance of commercial space companies in the intelligence community.

The selected firms are Airbus U.S. Space and Defense, Albedo Space, Hydrosat, Muon Space and Turion Space.
