Earth is experiencing a severe solar storm, causing concern for those responsible for power grids, communication systems, and satellites.

The NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center has issued a G3, or “strong,” geomagnetic storm warning until 2 a.m., with visible effects visible as aurora across the Northern Hemisphere.

The storm has also caused some GPS receivers to struggle to lock locations, and it is unclear how severe the disruptions will be.
