Researchers are using remotely sensed data and satellite imagery to map glacier loss in Western Canada.

They have conducted a Landsat-based inventory of glaciers from 1985-2005, allowing them to track changes in glacier size, shape, and movement.

The study also revealed accelerated changes in the glacier-affected environments of western Canada through trend analysis of optical satellite imagery.
