Finnish authorities have reported a surge in GPS malfunctions, which were brought to public attention when a Finnish maritime pilot shared a video on social media of radar malfunctions.

This was later used by a sheriff’s deputy in Oregon to tag a stolen pickup truck, leading to the arrest of a suspect who attempted to evade a traffic stop.

Despite the increase in GPS malfunctions, Traficom, Finland’s federal transport and communications agency, detected no interference with radar frequencies in the Gulf of Finland.
