The Educational Irish Research Satellite, EGRSAT-1, has been successfully launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California, making it Ireland’s first satellite.

The satellite was designed, built, and tested by students from University College Dublin (UCD) over six years, as part of the European Space Agency’s Fly Your Satellite Program.

Following the launch, the student team is working to establish contact with the satellite and start operations from their dedicated ground control facility.
