GMV and Astroscale UK have initiated a project under the European Space Agency’s (ESA) COST (collision Risk and Automated Mitigation) cornerstone, aimed at transforming satellite collision avoidance using the Galileo Signal-in-Space (SiS) capabilities.

The initiative aims to address the increasing challenge of efficient collision avoidance maneuvers in low earth orbits (LEO), which are costly and deplete satellite propellant.

The project could potentially establish a globally available collision avoidance service.
