The UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai has highlighted the potential of technology and the UN’s convening power to address methane emissions knowledge gaps and trigger action to fulfill climate pledges.

The UN’s International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMOEO) has launched the Methane Alert and Response System (MARS), which collects methane data from satellites to limit emissions of this potent greenhouse gas.

The report reveals the first public data from MARS as part of the IMEO Methane Data platform, aiming to increase accountability and demonstrate the opportunity for methane action.
