The United Kingdom has launched a new strategy to ensure the continuity of positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) services, following a trend in the United States and the European Union to assess alternative PNT solutions.

The strategy includes a comprehensive crisis plan in case PNT services become unavailable, and builds on previous UK government work on PNT, including the 2018 Blackett Report and the UK Space Agency’s Space Based PNT Program.

The strategy was demonstrated in Ispra, Italy, with several companies demonstrating both timing and positioning services.
